Yeast Barcoder Collection MATa

The Yeast Barcoder Collection is a set of approximately 1,200 donor strains with unique DNA sequence tags (barcoders) that can be systematically transferred to any S. cerevisiae collection. These barcodes have been transformed into S. cerevisiae strain BY4741, replacing the phenotypically-neutral HO locus with two unique bar codes flanking the KanMX4 cassette.

Developed by Dr. Corey Nislow (University of Toronto), the Barcoder collection provides an efficient way to introduce unique barcodes in to arrayed yeast libraries. Highly parallel bioassays are a cost effective way to perform genome-scale screens. However, inserting these into a current collection can be expensive and time consuming. This collection allows barcodes to be introduced systematically simply by crossing mate-types. The method has been validated in combination with the DaMP collection (Yan et al., 2008).

Shipping Information
Yeast barcoders are provided as a live yeast cultures in 96-well format and shipped on dry ice. Strains are shipped in YPD broth with G418 (300 µg/mL) and is supplemented with 15% glycerol. Store the collection indefinitely at -80°C.
