FAQ
What is the composition of the precast gels? Are they comparable to traditional Tris Glycine or Bis-Tris gels?
The FastGene precast gels are based on Bis-Tris and are 1mm thick.
Pouring gels for protein separation is time consuming and prone to error, thus the replacement by precast protein gels is a progress, which facilitates lab work immensly. Additionally FastGene® Precast Protein Gels are due to their proprietary gel casting method more uniform than every self cast gel and thus offer the advantage of consistency and reproducibility in the results.
FastGene® Precast Protein Gels are available in a variety of homogenous and gradient gels. They are formulated for denaturing as well as native gel electrophoresis – depending on the used running and transfer buffer. Due to their cast in a neutral pH environment the hydrolysis of polyacrylamide is reduced thus an increased gel stability and superior band resolution are the result. Further advantages are an optimised running performance, larger loading volume, extra tall wells in order to avoid a lane-to-lane overflow, a higher transfer efficiency and a shelf life of 12 months.
The gels are compatible with different common protein electrophoresis gel tanks like from Bio-Rad Hoefer and our FastGene® Electrophoresis Unit. In the folder “Compatibility” you will find listed gel tanks for which the compatibility is already tested, if you use another system we offer to send you a sample, thus you can check if your system is compatible.
